Guitar Center is having a banging deal right now. If you get approved for their credit card you can get no payments and no interest for 15 months on certain items. I had the Line6 700 series acoustic in my hands but decided against it since I really want the electric version (which they didn't have).

I think the Seymour Duncan JB is an awesome humbucker. It's not too much, not too little. Congrats on a score. I hope you enjoy it.

Checking it out again, I like the "strings through body" and the mahogany under maple. That's what Les Pauls are. You can get great tone with a good pup in a good mahogany guitar.

the tone on this thing using the Jazz pick up is very deep and strong but still pronounced. I love this thing so much. I can get the rock tone I was getting with my Hamer on this and so much more. My only regret is that I don't have enough time to have it in my hands at all times. I also like that every flick of the pickup switch produces a very different tone. With the Hamer they all sorta sounded the same.

Nice guitar. They have really nice finishes. And from what I remember, they are real light in weight, which is great when you are old like me.

What color did you get, Billy? I still want that Eastwood guitar.

Get the eastwood, but don't sell your strat. Everyone HAS to have a strat

les: it is actually pretty light weight compared to most, though my Hamer is also, so I don't think I really noticed it all that much.
Clay: that thing is sweet. I'll have to see if I can't find the specs on it somewhere.
both: I don't own a strat, never planned to own one. Why? because everyone else has one. I think I'm going to have to though at some point, we want to play "possum kingdom" by the Toadies so I may need to get something with a whammy bar

Actually, I was thinking after I posted, that it had a mahogany body, so I must be thinking of another model. I like my strat, and I have never seen one exactly like it, but I don't like it due to the whammy, since its not even on the guitar. I think the strats can get a unique sound in a lot of situations. To me, if you have a guitar, and it's paid for, and you don't hate, why get rid of it. You know, have one of everything!

I used to have 9 guitars. Can't say I miss any of the ones I traded or sold, even the good ones. I have five now. All quality gear. I like my strat. It'd be hard to get rid of it and Sarah may not even let me. She picked it out.
One reason strats sound like they do is because of the whammy, even if you don't use it. There's a hole in the guitar and in the back for the springs. I blocked my whammy with five springs (they come with three). Clapton's is blocked. Even his $1300 signature when you buy it.

Maybe that is it with me, I have sold some stuff I wish I still had, but sometimes there is no love lost. Also, about the ads. At the top is a Gibson ad, a Hamer ad, and a seymour duncan add. They are good!
