Nice shot The thing is that the system does not reward a stingy D. It rewards for turnovers, sacks and FF and of course kick return yards. Cinny forces turovers. I agree that the guy who returned the kicks should get the points. I have less of a problem with that then the D getting points. A D getting 30 point off of returan yards is a joke. All that said I am still going to win this thing. One week at a time. Rellascout

I don't know if any of you read this guy, but I think he is one of the most entertaining sports/pop culture writers out there. sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060906His theory on Brooks is based a lot on sitting next to him for a few hours at an awards show. That column is in his archives someplace. You will like this one. Just to show I don't take this too seriously!!! sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060908Chargers (-3) over RAIDERS I'll leave you with this: Apparently the European version of "Madden" has a glitch where, if you're playing in superstar mode and not controlling the QB, he'll throw the football backward on every play. I mention this not because it's a funny YouTube clip, but because the person who posted that YouTube clip called it, "the Aaron Brooks glitch." In other words, they decided to name the glitch after the real-life QB who's most likely to throw the ball 35 yards backward during a game. And you wonder why I'm laying the three.

I enjoyed the column. That's funny about the glitch. It's going to be interesting to watch the Raiders this year. I can't believe they dumped Collins for Brooks.

I can see getting rid of Collins but if you want to win Brooks is not the answer. Collins best days are long gone.
But you have to remember that there were not a lot of free agent QBs out there.
Culpepper who stunk last night and Brees who everyone says is a sytem guy who benefitted from a great running back and the best TE in football.
They should have gone young and drafted someone but they didn't.

It's time... Time to start that is. Let's get that ball kicked up in the air and let the hitting begin. Let's just see if my vaunted team can hold up. Nice team why aren't you starting Priest Holmes? Bengals fan are we or did it just work out that way? It just worked out that way. I wouldn't draft a RB and QB from the same team normally.

I do think it's time we relooked about altering the return yards.
My Green Bay D scored 37 points for me and they lost 26-0.
Clay, should you put a vote out to the team owners?

Yeah. We can change it up. Give me some ideas. I don't think the other owners would mind. A stingy D is what should be rewarded. I don't mind a few points for turnovers and such but the return yards is kind of crazy.

Right now it's at 25 for an interception return. I changed it to 25 for a kick/punt return.

fyi: It says this after any change.
If you have changed one or more of your point modifiers from their previous settings, the changes will be implemented the next time your leagues stats are updated, with the new modifier values applying retroactively to the start date of your league.

The other league I play in does not even factor in return yardage on defense, just return TDs and interception returns. And we only get 6 points for those.
I'd say get rid of the return yardage and then come up with how many points we want to award the defense for Kick off, Punt return and Interception return TDs. I think 25 is a little much.

Yeah, that is the way it usually is. I would be for the change.
As it is now, a D that gets scored upon like crazy will be rewarded for extra kick returns. It's the reason I picked up the San Fran D.
Plus, I really don't want to scout tehe number of touchbacks a kicker has so I'm sure one of my Ds does not play against him.

I have it one point for every 25 yards.

I noticed when I went from 1-0 to 0-1, but it is better this way.

I'm sorry about that. I'm glad you're cool about it. That's my sister who beat you, retroactively. It didn't do squat for me but made my loss even bigger.

I wish that we could break that down to just punt returns. A good defense generates more punts therefore more punt return yards. But if others want to get rid of the return yards for defenses I am okay with that too.
